ID Center

Origins

A SHARED VISION, A COMMON GOAL

Industrialists of the Arve valley, and their representatives, have championed the Technocentre project since it was initiated almost ten years ago. The many encounters and exchanges held between stakeholders in the project have shed light on the expectations of tomorrow’s users of this hub of technology and expertise. Discussions have yielded a plan of action structured around four cornerstones: innovation (in all its aspects: technological, managerial, process-related, etc.), attractiveness (of the area, the professions and the customer base), operationality (in terms of the responses offered and solutions provided), and sharing (pooling, co-construction, feedback, etc.).

Expansion 2020

The Technocentre programme was outlined in 2009 as a post-crisis project in the scope of the EXPANSION 2020 plan. This sectoral call for projects – which received national backing – is designed to support and finance a range of actions around four topics: innovation, human intelligence, internationalisation and investment. By bringing together local industrial skills on a single site with a view to promoting our companies’ competitiveness, attractiveness and innovativeness, the project meets the ongoing aims of the Expansion 2020 plan and provides the developments demanded by the sector.

ID Center

Objectives
& ambitions

TO SHOWCASE OUR INDUSTRIAL FIRMS AND GIVE THEM A SPRINGBOARD FOR DEVELOPMENT

The stated aims of ID Center are to promote the skills of our mechanical engineering and machining industries, to help them grow and to provide the tools that will hone their competitive edge and make them more attractive to customers and budding talent, at home and around the world. ID Center is both a shop window for our know-how and a hub for operational R&D, offering the technocentre’s beneficiaries significant material and human support and providing an insight into the innovativeness and the value chain created.

The story behind the name

Three names and logos were shortlisted for the Cluses technocentre project and submitted to the industrialists and other partners involved in the project. ID CENTER was chosen by 51.4% of voters at the Simodec trade fair and via a dedicated application. The idea from the outset was to increase innovation and development resources while making significant strides towards tomorrow’s industry. The selected name – ID CENTER – embodies these aspirations that converge towards industrial excellence. The I stands for industry, innovation, international and intelligence. The D characterises development, dissemination and decisiveness. Two letters that, when combined in French, form the word IDÉE and spark the most innovative ideas.
